About

Thanks for visiting! My name is Matt Biewener, and I built this site as a place (other than my computer) to put notes, code examples, things to remember, and anything else that might be worthwhile to me or to others. I'm a “Full-Stack” developer and “DevOps” engineer—in other words, I like to conceive of and implement comprehensive solutions that cover not only the features users see and interact with in a browser but also the infrastructures supporting them.

In my role as a senior application developer at Abt Associates in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I work with other technical and non-technical experts to design, build, and maintain websites for federal partners that serve as hubs for knowledge management, data collection and visualization, and training and technical assistance. And I have a background in public health, focusing on maternal and child health, and for more than a decade worked in a range of health domains (e.g., substance abuse prevention, mental health promotion, pandemic influenza, HIV/AIDS).

I hope you find something useful here for your own work. And while I'd love to take credit for all the ideas, solutions, and observations in these pages, they're really just the distillation of the brilliance of some very talented mentors (e.g., Agaric), the free and open source software movements and communities, and opportunities to practice what I love and get paid for it.

I'm also available to work with or for you on other web projects, whether they be marketing or customer-/client-facing websites, project/data management tools, or other creative solutions using cloud-based architectures.
